There was actually a separation at the corners that allowed you to see the unstained particle board, the handles are actually obviously cheap plastic, the top/surface of the one I received had a visible and ugly scar, the particle board is of such poor quality that it is frequently impossible for the screws to get a "grip" and--well you get the idea.
I called to make arrangements to return--but the shipping cost is roughly eight times higher to return--roughly $50. And in-spite of the cited defects above they would not pay for shipping even though I was really to purchase something else of equal value from the company. I decided to keep the item and am using it in the garage for tools etc.

Have a "home office", and filing cabinets, but my husband keeps every little piece of paper and I couldn't find room for my "stuff". This filing cabinet is perfect for my needs, and it fits into the dining room/kitchen area nicely.
