A decent value for the money

First and foremost ... for the money, this is actually a pretty decent piece of furniture. Prior to buying this cabinet, I had a cheap (I mean cheap) particle board file cabinet by another company (I think it was Sauder) but this one is MUCH better quality.

So, for the positives, it looks great, it is sturdy, and the drawers slide smoothly. It doesn't look cheap and the construction is pretty easy (though you have to use a little intuition (see below)). For the money (just over $125, it is a pretty decent cabinet, and I can recommend it to others.

Now the negatives: It is still chipboard construction ... I was hoping for solid wood and plywood, but at least it's better quality than particle board. The panels are thick and well made, so even though it's chip board it seems durable. Second, they give you a cheap little tool to tighten the cam locks and screws ... do yourself a favor and just use your screwdrivers ... but don't over-torque! The wood dowels are loose in the drill holes ... Use a little wood glue or construction adhesive in the holes to firm things up a bit ... definitely recommended. The instructions tend to leave out a few steps, so study the pictures and diagrams to see what you need to do before starting each step ... doing that takes a few minutes more ... but ... in the end you'll be glad you did as it will save you time and error.

All things considered, I'm happy with the cabinet.

    This cabinet is being used in my kitchen to hold cooking magazines and full-page recipes. I have needed this for a long time to get organized and look neater. This is perfect for the job, and it fits perfectly at the end of my work island. I'm very happy with it. Also, it was packed exceptionally well. My husband and I were very impressed.

    Poor workmanship by the manufactering site. Top surface had horrible finish, have to sand and poly. Drawer would not lock due to tracks not allowing drawer to close enough. Re-drilled track mounting holes inside cabinet (6) to move drawer for locking mechanism. Then, re-drilled track mounting holes on bottow drawer to keep both drawers aligned (6 more). Using wood glue on dowels made for sturdy construction. Retailer gave $13 credit for poor finish. Not much for the aggravation. Had to re-glue the veneer on the back edge of the table top (see photo).

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Very easy to assemble with the correct number of parts and accurately pre-drilled holes. Drawers are a bit skewed so it's a little rough sliding in and out. Instructions are not overly accurate and sometimes out and out incorrect, so use your own common sense when the instructions are missing or don't make sense (Written where English is not native language).

    Ours came without a space for the lock mechanism in the base. We just carved out a place to recieve the lock when used.
    I called for help and was pleasantly surprised with the man on the phone, he checked the instructions, pictures etc, and with his input I was able to figure out a way to make it work.
